BSNL launches WiMAX in CHENNAI Sub-Urban areas!

February 13, 2012 Leave a comment

BSNL Chennai Telephones has launched WiMAX, the fourth generation technology for wireless broadband, in 15 mofussil areas around Chennai
Chennai Telephones Chief General Manager A. Subramanian said each of the 15 BTS towers set up in these locations would provide wireless broadband services within a radius of 10-15 km and have capacity to network about 1,000 subscribers with a little back-end scaling up of bandwidth.
WiMAX (Wireless Interoperability for Microwave Access) is an IP-based wireless broadband technology that provides Internet access for any device on any network within a designated zone. BSNL can offer wireless connectivity for a 15-km line of sight range in rural areas at speeds ranging between 256 Kbps and 2 Mbps. Unlike the limited access area that a Wi-Fi hotspot serves, WiMAX represents 4G wireless broadband technology that can link up larger areas.
The new WiMAX spots are Uthiramerur, Chengalpattu, Anna Nagar, Maraimalainagar, Gummidipoondi SIPCOT, Kelambakkam, Thiruvallur M/W, Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, Manali New Town, Melmaruvathur, Maduranthagam, Thirukazhukundram, Thatchur, Medavakkam and Kancheepuram.
While users within a 1 km radius of a WiMAX BTS can access the Internet with just a USB dongle, those within a 2-5 km radius would require an indoor CPE while subscribers farther away would need to hook up with outdoor equipment.
Pinging on during a demo at the Maraimalainagar BTS area showed a download speed of 2.17 Mbps and upload speed of 1.79 on the USB dongle, 1.97 Mbps (download) and 0.51 (upload) with an indoor CPE and 2.02 Mbps (download) and 1.57 Mbps (upload) with an outdoor CPE.

The Return of SOPA-It is ACTA Now !

February 5, 2012 Leave a comment

Some are characterizing ACTA as worse than SOPA, but the reality is somewhat more complicated. From a substantive perspective, ACTA’s Internet provisions are plainly not as bad as those contemplated by SOPA. Over the course of several years of public protest and pressure, the Internet provisions were gradually watered down with the removal of three strikes and you’re out language. Other controversial provisions on statutory damages and anti-camcording rules were made optional rather than mandatory.

While the Internet provisions may not be as bad as SOPA, the remainder of the agreement raises many significant concerns.
For example Section 3 of ACTA deals with the flow of infringing products across borders. It requires countries to allow customs officials to seize goods suspected of infringement. Such seizures would be allowed not only in the origin and destination nations, but also while the goods are in transit through third countries.

This provision can be used against cou ntries such as India which manufactured generaic drugs, and export to various countries. Patent claims on medical inventions are not actually recognised in Indian courts. But however if India signed ACTA even without any parliament approval or law in this country India will be forced to ban such drugs, and only import the patentslayered highest cost USA drugs. This is the reason why india is fighting ACTA. But If USA and EU sign such deal, this countries even sizures the shipment of such drug in another countries or in mid sea and and heavy punishment such as prision term can be imposed.
Another BAD provision are these Agreements are bypassed local parliaments of the country and simply a executives agreement. So even without law or parliament approval, if manmohan or his representative signed, india will be directly under USA and EU axis control.

Countries such as India have expressed concern that it conflicts with the TRIPS Agreement. Other elements of the agreement increase the standards in the WIPO Internet Treaties and the commercial scale definition at the WTO. The agreement adds new criminal provisions, pressures ISPs to take greater action, and heightens border measures. There remains ongoing debate as to whether the substance of ACTA requires legislative change in many signatory countries
The protests against the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement continue to spread in cities across Europe. The protests began in Poland, where thousands have taken to the streets and opposition politicians have worn Guy Fawkes masks in protest against the country signing the agreement last week. The scenes from Poland are remarkable, demonstrating the widespread anger over the decision to join ACTA.(
Immediately afterwards on
Friday February 03, 2012
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has announced the country is suspending its ratification of the Anti-Counterfeitint Trade Agreement. The announcement comes following huge protests in cities across the country.

Last weekend the protests have spread beyond Poland, with hundreds protesting in the Czech Republic, Belgium, and in cities across France including Paris, Lyon, and Bordeaux (further Paris video here). The European Parliament is scheduled to vote on the agreement later this year.

Problems is many officials who have signed the agreement is clueless what ACTA is about, mostly from USA pressure they hurried the signature ceremony behind the closed doors meeting.
Such as ,

“Slovenia’s ambassador to Japan, Helena Drnovek Zorko, writes: ‘I signed ACTA out of civic carelessness, because I did not pay enough attention. Quite simply, I did not clearly connect the agreement I had been instructed to sign with the agreement that, according to my own civic conviction, limits and withholds the freedom of engagement on the largest and most significant network in human history, and thus limits particularly the future of our children.'”

In USA Congressman,Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) last week called ACTA “more dangerous than SOPA.” He added, “It’s not coming to me for a vote. It purports that it does not change existing laws. But once implemented, it creates a whole new enforcement system and will virtually tie the hands of Congress to undo it.”

What it is meaning is, Even in USA the Excutive Branch (the president) will bypass the Congress and Senate, or even Supreme court, to implement ACTA so it will not be questioned in any court of law…the pattern is not simply in one country.. but spread to many welathy countries, where excutive branches are available to highest bidders, and the industries hunchoes try to establish their own empires, by supressing the Will of the people.. So remember you are not alone.. your chldren may not even know what is freedom or democracy is..
Remember it!
Remember it!
As Guy Fawkes said,” Remember november 5!

‘Nixie’ -the Lady Gaga of Linux!

September 11, 2011 Leave a comment

It may infuriated Traditional Linux purist..Because, Linux and sex never match also it is widely thought female gender don’t acknowledged, they are Linux users..because no body wanted to be called to be a ‘geek’, which is predominantly associated with ‘Male’ gender dominated world..

But my view changed drastically when a years agosearching for a linux tutorials, ‘Nixie’ surfaced dramatically..First i may misunderstood  her post.. because ‘you could not get away by saying’ ubuntu sucks’ and publishing in youtube, .. but she did it.. than get away unscratched.. That is amazing..Her post generated more than 4,50,000 viewer for the title’Ubuntu themes’..average 1 lakh people are viewing her post.. that is amazing,..

Some of her titles are , ‘ Go for open source or Go home”

‘how to cure Windows virus with ubuntu linux?

She is actually a game blogger, but turn her attention to Linux particularly Ubuntu that is all..

However, all her viewers has agreed on one single point without reservation..’She is too sexy.. and  distract the viewers about what she is saying’

Many of the commenter are very much making bad comments about her figures instead of Linux.. however there are some genuine Users who think she explained the hard coded linux in very Less sentence.. This is a victory for her.. She also admit this fact, Even if 10% of the viewers are converted to Linux, it is enough for me..

When asking about her dress,

I wear things that I like – that I think look good, and that I feel comfortable in. If others like it too I find that very flattering, but it isn’t why I wear it.

She is avid game enthusist but now give some of her free time about Linux

I have recently discovered the joys of Linux as an operating system, and created a little part of my site devoted to sharing my experiences with others; perhaps helping them avoid the same pitfalls I’ve made.

she has accomplished what Richard Stqallmen and Linus could not do in their 20 years, she is attracting attention for Linux in online and social network…

She is what lady GAGA to Music  to linux at now.. I wish  RMS should be ‘Nixie- the Linux Doll”

Heroes Of India!

August 15, 2011 Leave a comment

To day 64th independence day is celebrated, and customary speeches delivered by the PM ,delivering a comic speech against craft.. elsewhere we remember our heroes of our independence..
but the real heroes of modern India has been usually forgotten by mass media. the whistle blower India is a rare bred of specie

Early whistleblower paid the price for his honesty and courage. Indian Institute of Technology alumnus Satyendra Dubey, a project director with the National Highways Authority of India, managed the Aurangabad-Barachatti section of National Highway 1, better known as the Grand Trunk Road. The highway was part of then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s Golden Quadrilateral Corridor Project. Dubey suspended three engineers for serious financial irregularities. He also had the contractor rebuild a six-kilometer stretch of highway. Dubey also observed that the firm contracted to construct the highway was subcontracting work to low-skilled agencies. His complaints to higher-ups yielded no response. When Dubey wrote directly to the Prime Minister he was reprimanded for the “impropriety” of his act but went on to secure a promotion and used his additional responsibility to expose more corruption in the project. As he returned from a wedding on the night of November 27, 2003, Dubey was shot dead. His murder sparked off a movement pressing for a whistleblower law to root out corruption.

Shanmugam Manjunath, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, was a marketing manager with the Indian Oil Corporation. He had ordered the closure of two petrol pumps in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri for selling adulterated fuel.night Manjunath’s body, riddled with bullets, was found in the back of his car, which was being driven by a worker of the petrol pump.

Timeline October

IN NAYAKANPETTAI, INDIA When police found Vaidyalingam Balasubramanyam’s body dumped beside a road in this southern Indian village , his family said that telling the truth had cost him his life. The hand-loom weaver turned whistleblower had been fighting corruption in the local weavers’ cooperative for the past three years.
Balasubramanyam had collected hundreds of official documents indicating that a single family held a monopoly over the cooperative management, according to Vel, who showed a reporter photocopies of the documents. The files also showed evidence of embezzlement.
“Due to heavy rainfall last year, the government sent compensation money to hand-loom weavers. But I did not get any of it, even though the records in the cooperative showed that all the weavers had been paid,” said Sukha Lingam, 40, a weaver in Nayakanpettai. “The managers ate up all the money meant for the poor.”
Balasubramanyan always carried with him a yellow cloth bag containing files he had accessed. The bag is now missing. The police registered a case of “suspicious death” after his killing and sent his body for examination. .

Time line January 2011
On a winter evening this January, Amarnath Pandey was returning home through a low-lit alley of a suburban town in India’s heartland state Uttar Pradesh when a motorcycle-riding gunman suddenly appeared and fired at him.

“The bullet luckily missed the target and grazed my ear. I felt the searing sensation in my ear and fell down,” said 55-year-old Pandey who is back from hospital but is still in a state of shock.

It was his second brush with death. A week earlier, a lorry tried to run him over.

A local coterie of corrupt government officials apparently want Pandey dead. And all he did to anger them was file an Right to Information (RTI) application inquiring about the details of a local project in which huge sums of money were reportedly embezzled.

Apart from what newspapers reported , there are many cases of suspicious death in the case of RTI activities as well as whistle blowers.. they are the real Heroes of our independence because of their courageous unselfish nature made millions of Indians still believing they are living safe in the Democratic (although corrupted )
